There are now four ways for you to obtain Internode Naked ADSL2+! This page describes each method in detail, so you can determine which one is most appropriate for your circumstances.
Here is a graphical representation of the best methods to transfer to Naked ADSL2+, further detailed explanations on these processes are provided below the diagram.

The very first thing to check is whether Naked ADSL2+ is available in your exchange area! Simply enter your telephone number into our Coverage Checker, and the availability of our various ADSL service types will be clearly listed.
This will indicate whether your local exchange has the necessary equipment (DSLAM) to deliver Internode Naked ADSL2+. It doesn't however analyse the copper access network between your premises and the local exchange - that can only be done when we receive your order. Specifically, Internode Naked ADSL2+ can only be delivered :
We'll check all these items as part of provisioning your service. If at any point we find you cannot obtain an Internode Naked ADSL2+ service at your premise, you can cancel the order with no penalty - no success, no fee!
Read on for details on the options available for connecting to Internode Naked ADSL2+. If you’re still not sure, please contact Internode Sales for further assistance.
This option involves the conversion of an existing active telephone service into a Naked ADSL2+ service, with only a brief outage. This tends to be the most convenient method, since no site visit is required.
You can order an Internode Naked ADSL2+ via Convert Active Telephone Service here, with no setup fee on a 24 month contract, or a $129 setup fee if you prefer a monthly contract. The typical timeframe from when you place your order to the cutover occurring is two to four weeks, and please note:
If you choose to convert an existing telephone service to Internode Naked ADSL2+, then you need to be aware that:
If you already have an ADSL service on your phone line, and you'd like to convert that phone line into an Internode Naked ADSL2+, then you need to be aware of the following:
So if you do have a Spectrum Sharing service on your phone line, some alternatives for you to consider are:
Naturally we are lobbying hard for Telstra Wholesale to introduce a process to convert Spectrum Shared Services into Unbundled Local Loop services!
Details on how to check if an existing Internode ADSL service is provided via a Telstra Wholesale DSLAM (and hence your phone line can be converted) - or provided by an Internode DSLAM (and hence your phone line cannot be converted) - are contained in our Naked ADSL2+ FAQ.
Naturally if you have an existing ADSL service with another provider, you'll need to check with them how it is being delivered (ie via Telstra Wholesale or Spectrum Sharing). Also, please check carefully with your current provider regarding your contractual commitments and break / disconnection fees. Internode is not responsible for these charges.
This new option offers a great solution to the many people who are moving into apartments! A ‘soft dial tone’ telephone service is neither active, nor inactive – it’s in a pre-provisioned state. You can hear a dialtone, you can call emergency services, and you can call Telstra to get it fully activated – for a fee – and that’s about it.
The good news is, these services can now be converted to Naked ADSL2+ without you needing to activate the line – saving you time and money! A restriction, however, is that this is only available in Multi Dwelling Units, such as apartments, where there is a Main Distribution Frame (MDF).
You can order an Internode Naked ADSL2+ via Convert Soft Dial Tone Service here, with no setup fee on a 24 month contract, or a $129 setup fee if you prefer a monthly contract. In general it takes between two and four weeks from when you place your order, to when the service becomes active.
It’s not always easy to find out if your apartment has an MDF, but remember we have a no success, no fee policy. So you can give it a go, and if it works – great. If it fails then you can choose to activate the phone service with a telephony provider, and then place a convert order to make it Naked ADSL2+ (as explained in Section 1 'Convert an Active Telephone Service', above).
Another new option for obtaining Naked ADSL2+ is ‘churn’. This is only available if:
This process is conceptually very similar to the churn (‘fast transfer’) process widely used on the Telstra Wholesale DSLAM network. It’s fast, cheap and efficient. There’s no change to your physical infrastructure – no site visit is required – your broadband connection is simply moved from your current provider to Internode.
You can order an Internode Naked ADSL2+ via Churn Existing Naked ADSL Service here, with no setup fee on a 24 month contract, or a $39 setup fee if you prefer a monthly contract. The churn usually takes between one and two weeks to take effect.
Please note that at this stage your current service must be Naked ADSL, not bundled with analog telephony, though we expect to offer that option in future. And it must be delivered via an Optus DSLAM – if you’re not sure, you’ll need to check with your current provider.
Finally, please check carefully with your current provider regarding your contractual commitments and break / disconnection fees. Internode is not responsible for these charges.
These connections involve installing your Naked ADSL2+ service on to an existing spare ('vacant') copper pair at your premises:
So there is a site visit required with these connections - you'll need to specify a time that you can be at the premises to provide access for the installation technician. You’ll also need to be flexible enough to have these appointments rescheduled without too much inconvenience, as unfortunately this can occur based on circumstances beyond Internode's control.
The service can only be installed if there is an existing spare ('vacant') copper pair into your premises. Even if you are unsure about this, you can still order an Internode Naked ADSL2+ via New Service Connection here, with no setup fee on a 24 month contract, or a $129 setup fee if you prefer a monthly contract.
We'll then perform a detailed service qualification as part of the provisioning process, to check for the availability of a spare copper pair. Unfortunately, this can't be done online.
If our detailed service qualification shows that you do have a spare copper pair into your premises, then the order will proceed and the installation usually takes about four to six weeks.
As part of the signup process you'll be asked to specify a suitable date and time (morning or afternoon) for the appointment.
You can then choose to cancel or retain your existing telephone service - with or without any associated ADSL service - that's entirely up to you.
However if our detailed service qualification shows that you do not have a spare copper pair into your premises, then we'll let you know and your options are:
Please note that orders for Naked ADSL2+ New Service connections will presently be accepted for services delivered to single dwelling units (such as houses), and business premises (where installation is to the Main Distribution Frame only, as noted above).
If you live in a Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) - such as an apartment or flat - then Convert Active Service or Convert Soft Dial Tone are the recommended connection options. This is because of the logistical difficulties involved in cabling between your premises and your building's Main Distribution Frame.
An MDU in this sense is a building where telecommunication services are terminated on a Main Distribution Frame, and in-building cabling is used to connect from here to your premises. In general an MDU is a large apartment block - for example three or more stories in height, with five or more seperately leased units - however note this is a guide only.
if you live in a Multiple Dwelling Unit and do not have an existing active telephone service, then another option is for you to order a telephone service and convert it to Naked ADSL2+, as explained under section 4.3 'If you don't have spare copper' above.
Please ensure that you are aware of the costs that you may incur for cancelling Naked ADSL2+ orders prior to cutover. Also note that we will install the service exactly as specified by you - so please double-check the service address and phone number carefully!
You can cancel an order for Internode Naked ADSL2+ up to a week before the scheduled cutover date, without penalty. After this point we incur considerable third party costs and commitments, and these are passed on to you.
Specifically, if you cancel your order for an Internode Naked ADSL2+ service within five working days of the scheduled cutover date, then the installation charge ($0 on a 24 month contract / $39 or $129 otherwise) plus one months rental (as per the specific Naked ADSL2+ plan) plus the early cancellation charge ($199 on a 24 month contract / $0 otherwise) will apply.
Please ensure accuracy in the information that you provide us for your Naked ADSL2+ order, since we will install the service exactly according to the instructions that you have given us. So if you provide incorrect information on your order - such as the wrong address for installation of the Naked ADSL2+ service; or the wrong phone number to be converted to Naked ADSL2+ - then your service will be installed at the wrong location or on the wrong copper pair.
Because of costs that we incur in all completed installations and conversions, you will be charged for corrections to the Naked ADSL2+ service that you have incorrectly specified. This will consist of either:
We continue to work on simplifying the processes and expanding the options available for you to obtain Internode Naked ADSL2+. The above four options should address most customer requirements. It can be quite confusing, so feel free to contact Internode Sales on 13 6633 if you need some helpful advice.
In future we also intend to support transfers of ADSL services delivered by other providers using Unbundled Local Loop. Please note this facility is not yet available, but is under development.
